Emer-G-Med Paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident on the N1 north near the New Road Bridge earlier this afternoon, on 18 March.

One killed, another injured after shooting
On arrival at the scene, the paramedics found two men who had been shot multiple times.
They discovered that a 28-year-old man had sustained fatal injuries and that paramedics declared him dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, they found a second man, who was approximately 50-years-old, in a critical condition.

Emergency Care Practitioners worked fervently to stabilise the critically injured man.
They then transported him rapidly by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
The South African Police Services will investigate the incident and the events preceding it.
The facts surrounding the incident remain unclear.
