The police received a tip-off about a consignment of drugs and unknown items that were meant to be smuggled into Voorbrug Prison, said Captain Frederick van Wyk.
On Monday, police members raided a house in Bevan Street, Greenhaven in Manenberg and found 395 mandrax tablets, 10 kilograms of dagga, five grams of cocaine and 10 cellphones with batteries and 35 SIM cards.
The drugs and cellphones were seized and a 58-year-old woman was arrested on charges of dealing in drugs, said the police spokesperson.
Once the woman is charged, she is expected to appear before the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.
